Trigger point therapy is used when there is a small area of tightness in the muscle and is performed through pinpoint pressure. Applying pressure causes blood to flow out of the muscle and then flow back in upon release. This allows the muscle to “restart” and relax.
Our treatment entails spinal adjustments, which restore proper spinal movement; rehabilitation, which strengthens weakened muscles; and trigger point therapy, which breaks up adhesions in the muscle. This combination of treatments provides patients with an entirely new movement pattern in the injured area and allows for optimal recovery.
At Everest Chiropractic we emphasize wellness education and preventative healthcare. There is no better way to help the sick than to keep them from getting sick in the first place. It is essential to educate people on what chiropractic has to offer. Through demonstrating the power of chiropractic and the ability the body has to heal itself, patients become empowered to improve their lifestyle choices and overall health.

An instrument called an “acitvator” (www.activator.com) adjusts vertebrae with an extremely fast and light thrust. This allows the joint to be reset. There is no popping with this type of adjustment and it is considered a “low-force adjustment.” The activator technique is a great way to adjust babies or children because it uses low force, a light alternative to the typical “hands-on” chiropractic approach.
Diversified is a technique that involves high velocity, low amplitude manipulations into the affected area. Frequently a popping sound, which is a release of gas from the joint, is heard during the adjustment.
Table adjustments, performed while the patient is lying face down with the doctor’s hands crossed over the patient’s spine, are used to introduce movement into the upper back. Alternatively, the patient may lie on his back with the doctor’s hands placed underneath him. Often, the doctor will try to find the most comfortable position for the patient when restoring proper movement in the patient’s spine.
Lumbar rolls involve lying the patient on his side and are used for introducing movement into the low back.
Graston and ART-like treatments are used to remove scar tissue and loosen muscles in order for them to contract properly and enter the rehabilitative phase. These techniques are utilized together with adjustments when a patient presents with scar tissue upon evaluation.
Exercises in the office focus on turning on, strengthening, and stabilizing the muscles in the injured area. Patients work through a program that increases the duration, repetition, and complexity of the exercises as they progress through their care.
The majority of patients consult a chiropractor because they have an ache or pain. In this first phase of care, the main objective is to eliminate or reduce discomfort.
Once a patient is no longer experiencing significant pain, the stabilization phase begins. In this phase, the muscles supporting the spine are strengthened, and through chiropractic adjustments the spine is “retrained” to restore proper movement and alignment.
Wellness care is a choice to live optimally, a choice to live with improved health and nervous system function. Because the nervous system, which exits the spine, controls the entire body’s function, it is essential that these nerves function without interference. Maintaining proper spinal motion allows your nervous system to function at its peak.
